Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain Expected in Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, Risk of Landslides

The Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning for potential heavy rain in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, raising concerns about possible landslides.

In its latest weather bulletin released this evening, the department forecasted heavy rain in one or two locations within Bagmati and Gandaki provinces until Wednesday morning. Meteorologist Govinda Jha highlighted that the combination of monsoon winds and a low-pressure monsoon line is contributing to the likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in various regions.

“Currently, the influence of monsoon winds and the low-pressure line is increasing the chance of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few locations in other provinces,” said Jha.

The bulletin also noted the possibility of heavy rain in a few places within Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, further increasing the risk of landslides in these regions.

For Wednesday afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly to mostly cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and a few places in other provinces. Additionally, heavy rain is likely in one or two locations within Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with heavy rainfall and potential landslides.
