President Group Marks Bold Expansion with Grand Lumbini Launch

Continuing its nationwide expansion, President Group has officially opened its 16th branch in Lumbini, marking a significant milestone in its hospitality journey. After successfully operating 15 branches in Kathmandu, the group inaugurated the new facility on Saturday at Mahilwar Chowk, near the historic Maya Devi Temple.

The newly launched hotel begins operations with 25 attractive and well-furnished rooms, offering a clean and serene environment for guests. With a strong focus on promoting Nepali organic cuisine, the hotel aims to provide affordable yet high-quality services that blend taste, health, and warm hospitality.

Formal Inauguration by Provincial Minister

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Lumbini Province Minister for Industry, Tourism, and Transport, Prachanda Bikram Neupane. Addressing the event, Minister Neupane emphasized the importance of promoting Lumbini, birthplace of Lord Buddha, as a world-class religious, cultural, and historical destination.

He stressed that coordinated efforts between federal, provincial, and local governments were essential for developing tourism infrastructure. “Investment in hotels, transportation, infrastructure, and skilled workforce by the private sector plays a critical role in tourism growth,” Neupane said.

During the event, hotel entrepreneurs expressed concerns over the non-operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport, noting that billions of rupees in investments were at risk. They urged the government to create a more investment-friendly environment to safeguard the hospitality sector’s future.

19 Years of Success in Hospitality

Founded in 2006 (2063 BS) in Sundhara, Kathmandu, with the motto “Taste, Health, and Hospitality Together,” President Hotel has grown into a recognized name in Nepal’s hospitality industry. In 2011 (2068 BS), the brand was reintroduced under the President Group name, steadily building a reputation for authentic Nepali flavors, traditional cuisine, and quality service across the country.

According to Shankar Bhandari, Chairman of President Group, the company has ambitious growth plans. “Within the next three years, we aim to establish eight new hotels exceeding standard tourism levels and at least five President Sekuwa multi-cuisine restaurants,” Bhandari said. He added that the group also plans to expand nationwide through franchising, encouraging entrepreneurial youth to become part of the brand.

Employment and Social Responsibility

President Group currently employs around 350 people, including 28 individuals with disabilities. Chairman Bhandari stated that the company prioritizes inclusivity in hiring, aligning its business success with social responsibility.

The group has also built a strong loyalty network, having issued over 106,000 Privilege Guest memberships. These members enjoy a 15% discount and special offers at any branch, fostering long-term customer engagement.

Boosting Lumbini’s Tourism Potential

The opening of the new branch is expected to add momentum to Lumbini’s tourism sector. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lumbini attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists annually, but stakeholders believe that better facilities and coordinated efforts are needed to elevate its status as a global travel destination.

With investments from the private sector, enhanced infrastructure, and cooperation among all levels of government, Lumbini is poised to strengthen its position as a premier religious and cultural hub. President Group’s latest venture is seen as a step toward this shared vision, offering both domestic and international visitors an upgraded hospitality experience.

The President Group’s expansion into Lumbini reflects a broader trend in Nepal’s hospitality industry, where regional tourism hubs are becoming increasingly attractive for investment. Industry insiders note that with the right policy support, Lumbini could rival other global pilgrimage sites, attracting not only Buddhist followers but also cultural travelers seeking authentic experiences.

For President Group, the opening of this 16th branch is not just about business growth but about contributing to the development of Nepal’s tourism identity. By combining high-quality services, local flavors, and community engagement, the group aims to set a new benchmark for hospitality in emerging tourist destinations. As Lumbini continues to draw the world’s attention, initiatives like this could play a decisive role in transforming it into a thriving center of culture, spirituality, and economic opportunity.
