Guthichaur Unveils Thrilling Second Paragliding Festival in Karnali

Guthichaur Rural Municipality has officially launched the second Paragliding Festival from today with the aim of promoting tourism and showcasing the natural beauty of the Karnali region. The three-day festival is expected to attract both domestic and international visitors, positioning Guthichaur as a new adventure tourism hub.

Building on Successful Trials

According to Dan Bahadur Buda, Chairperson of Guthichaur Rural Municipality, the festival follows a successful paragliding test flight conducted earlier in the area. “We have already tested paragliding here with success. This festival is organized to promote Guthichaur and enhance tourism-related activities,” he said, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to developing the region as an adventure destination.

Affordable Adventure Experience

The organizers have set a service fee of Rs. 3,500 for tourists from within the municipality and Rs. 4,500 for other visitors. Each participant will enjoy a thrilling flight lasting 20 to 30 minutes, soaring through the skies with breathtaking views.

Scenic Views from the Skies

Paragliding enthusiasts will be treated to a unique aerial perspective of Karnali’s majestic mountains, lush green forests, picturesque villages, and sprawling apple orchards. The opportunity to view these natural and cultural treasures in a single flight is expected to make Guthichaur a sought-after destination for adventure seekers.

Local Benefits and Employment Opportunities

Beyond tourism promotion, the festival also carries significant socio-economic benefits. Mayalaxmi Budha, Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, noted that the event has generated local employment opportunities by involving community members in logistics, hospitality, and support services. She added that the municipality is keen on ensuring that tourism directly benefits the people of Guthichaur.

A Step Toward Sustainable Tourism in Karnali

The festival not only introduces an exciting adventure sport but also signals Guthichaur’s broader vision to establish itself on the national and international tourism map. By integrating natural beauty with adventure activities, the municipality aims to create a sustainable tourism model that supports local livelihoods, preserves cultural heritage, and encourages eco-friendly practices.

Festival Duration and Expectations

The paragliding festival will run for three days, offering hundreds of tourists the chance to take part in the adventure. Organizers anticipate a significant turnout, which they believe will help spread positive word-of-mouth about Guthichaur’s potential as a year-round adventure tourism destination.

The launch of the second Guthichaur Paragliding Festival is a milestone event for Karnali Province’s tourism sector. Combining adventure, natural beauty, and community engagement, the festival is expected to open new doors for tourism promotion in western Nepal. With breathtaking views, affordable pricing, and local participation, Guthichaur is steadily carving out a name for itself as a unique adventure destination in Nepal.
