19-Year-Old Chhiring Diki Lama from Samagaun Successfully Summits Manaslu

Chhiring Diki Lama, a 19-year-old woman from Samagaun in Chumanubri-1, has successfully scaled Mt. Manaslu (8,163 meters), becoming the latest climber from her village to conquer the world’s eighth-highest peak. According to her sister, mountaineer Nangsal Chhoden Lama, Chhiring set out from Manaslu Base Camp on Monday morning at 6:00 AM and reached the summit at 10:50 AM on Tuesday.

Supported by Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd.

Chhiring accomplished her climb through Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd., a Kathmandu-based expedition company. Despite coming from a simple rural background and being engaged mostly in household chores at her village, she demonstrated remarkable determination and strength to reach the top of the towering Himalayan peak.

Other Climbers from Samagaun Join the Expedition

Chhiring was not alone in her achievement. Alongside her, four other climbers from Samagaun also successfully reached the summit of Manaslu during this expedition, highlighting the growing participation of local youth in mountaineering.

Samagaun’s Rising Legacy in Mountaineering

This is not the first time climbers from Samagaun have made their mark on Manaslu. Previously, Diki Lhamu, Mingmar Chhiring, and Nangsal Chhoden, Chhiring’s own sister, had also successfully summited the mountain, contributing to the village’s emerging reputation as a hub of mountaineering talent.

Symbol of Inspiration

Chhiring’s success is seen as an inspiration for young people in her community, especially women, who are increasingly stepping into mountaineering despite coming from modest family backgrounds. Her accomplishment is being celebrated both locally and nationally as a symbol of courage, endurance, and the deep connection between Himalayan communities and the mountains they call home.
