Reconstruction of Thorang-La Pass Road Underway with Support from Annapurna Conservation Area Project

In a significant development aimed at improving connectivity and accessibility in the Himalayan region, the road leading from Thorang-La Pass, situated at an altitude ranging from sea level to five thousand and four hundred meters, has recently undergone repair and restoration work. This path connects Manang to Mustang, and it plays an essential role in the region’s transportation network.

The initiative, supported by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), saw the reconstruction of a seven hundred and nineteen-meter stretch of the road. This endeavor was carried out in collaboration with local consumer committees. The road not only facilitates the movement of locals but also supports tourism, which is vital for the economy of the region.

The completion of this maintenance work is expected to enhance safety and efficiency along the route, benefiting both residents and visitors alike. The efforts reflect ongoing commitments to sustainable development and infrastructure improvement in Nepal’s mountainous terrain.
