The management of Hyatt Regency Kathmandu has announced the temporary closure of the hotel following extensive damage sustained during the protests and violent incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082 BS.
Extensive Damage Forces Temporary Shutdown
According to an official notice issued by the hotel, the recent unrest led to acts of vandalism and arson within the hotel premises, causing significant damage to its infrastructure and facilities. As a result, the hotel has been rendered unfit for immediate operation.
The management stated that the situation has created an urgent need to initiate repair and reconstruction works to restore the hotel’s functionality, safety, and service quality. The announcement clarified that the decision was made after the careful assessment of the risk, safety concerns, and the sensitive nature of the hotel’s infrastructure.
Focus on Safety and Security
Hyatt Regency Kathmandu emphasized that ensuring the safety of its employees, guests, and the property remains its top priority. Due to the potential hazards involved in repair and restoration work, and considering the overall safety sensitivities of the premises, the hotel will remain completely closed until further notice.

Staff Advised Not to Report to Work
In the same statement, the hotel management addressed all the employees and the relevant stakeholders, informing them that discussions have been held with the trade unions active within the establishment regarding the current situation.
