Rescue Underway for Italian Climbers Stranded at Pangbari Himal, Gorkha

Authorities in Gorkha have reported that one of three Italian climbers stranded at Pangbari Himal for the past five days has been successfully rescued, while the search continues for the other two. 65-year-old Belter Parlino was evacuated at 10 a.m. via helicopter from the 5,000-meter base camp and transported safely to Samdo, Chumanuwri–1, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Shrestha.

Three Nepali Guides Also Evacuated

Along with Parlino, three Nepali guides, Pemba Renji Sherpa, Dawa Chhiri Sherpa, and Pasang Tamang, were also rescued by helicopter. Their evacuation was coordinated to ensure the safety of all individuals stranded at the base camp.

Search Continues for Two Italian Climbers at Camp–1

Authorities are still searching for 67-year-old Stefano Farinato and 37-year-old Alessandro Gaputo, who remain at Camp–1 at 5,500 meters. Rescue teams are continuing efforts in challenging high-altitude conditions to locate and evacuate the climbers safely.

The three Italian mountaineers, accompanied by three Nepali guides, became stranded at Pangbari Himal on Wednesday, when adverse weather and difficult terrain prevented further movement.
