Tathali Gadhi and the naturally captivating Halalgau stairs, located in Tathali of Changunarayan Municipality–9, have rapidly emerged as popular internal tourism destinations in recent years. Visitors seeking to explore local history, natural beauty, and rural lifestyle up close are increasingly drawn to the area.

Historical and Archaeological Significance

Tathali Gadhi holds significant historical value, with remnants of archaeological importance discovered in the vicinity. From the fort areas in Aaitabare and Thulo Pakha forests, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley, Banepa, and various parts of Kavre. According to Ward Member Vidyapati Thapa, hundreds of domestic tourists visit the area daily, with Fridays and Saturdays witnessing particularly large crowds. The number of visitors exploring Halalgau has also been rising steadily.

Halalgau–Tathali Gadhi Stairs Add to the Attraction

Ward Chair Ganesh Tyat shared that the newly built Halalgau–Tathali Gadhi stairs have become a major attraction for tourists. The 300-step route offers a scenic and refreshing experience, drawing visitors for its suitability for short hikes, cultural observation, and natural sightseeing. The lush Sallahghari forest, melodious bird sounds, and serene ambience provide an ideal setting for nature lovers and solitude seekers.

Infrastructure Development and Promotion Underway

With increasing tourist influx, the ward office, forest users’ committee, and local community have initiated improvements in basic infrastructure, including sanitation facilities and resting places. Efforts toward wider promotion of the site are also underway. A view tower is currently under construction to enhance the sightseeing experience. Ward Chair Tyat noted that a master plan has been prepared for the sustainable development of the Tathali Gadhi area.
