The Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) has reached Janakpur Dham with an official invitation to the 27th Pokhara Street Festival, as part of its nationwide promotional campaign. Following its strategy to promote the festival across all seven provinces, REBAN arrived in Janakpur Dham, the capital of Madhesh Province, on Monday to extend invitations and share details of the upcoming event.
Press Meet Highlights Festival Details
REBAN organized a press conference in Janakpur Dham on Monday, where it provided comprehensive information about the festival scheduled to take place in Pokhara. According to festival coordinator Basanta Gautam, the 27th Pokhara Street Festival will be held from Poush 13 to 17 along the lakeside area of Phewa Lake. The festival will span approximately 3.5 kilometers of the lakeside road, transforming the area into a vibrant cultural and culinary hub.

Promoting Food Culture and Music
Organized under the theme “Eat on the Street, Dance on the Street, Enjoy on the Street,” the festival aims to promote Nepal’s rich food culture and musical heritage. Gautam emphasized that the event not only contributes to Pokhara’s tourism but also plays a significant role in strengthening Nepal’s overall tourism industry and economy.
He noted that the festival has successfully positioned Pokhara as an attractive alternative destination for celebrating the English New Year, encouraging travelers who traditionally visit countries such as India and Thailand during the holiday season to choose Pokhara instead.
Invitation to Celebrate the New Year in Pokhara
REBAN representatives stated that their visit to Janakpur Dham was part of a broader effort to invite people from across the country to participate in the festival. They encouraged tourism entrepreneurs, residents, and visitors from Madhesh Province to attend the event and experience Pokhara during the New Year celebrations. The festival has, over the years, become a key attraction for both domestic and international tourists, significantly contributing to Pokhara’s reputation as a leading New Year destination.
Showcasing Local Products and Cultural Diversity
The 27th Pokhara Street Festival will feature exhibitions of local products, handicrafts, and traditional indigenous cuisines. The event will also showcase Nepal’s cultural diversity through ethnic cultural processions representing various communities from across the country.
In addition, the festival will include a national and international food festival, live concerts by renowned artists, folk Dohori performances, and a range of recreational activities such as boat races on Phewa Lake and tug-of-war competitions.
Tourism Promotion and Creative Activities
Beyond entertainment and food, the festival will also host tourism promotion-focused talk shows and photo exhibitions, offering platforms to highlight Pokhara and Nepal as attractive travel destinations. These activities aim to engage both visitors and industry stakeholders in discussions on tourism development and cultural preservation.

A Long-Standing New Year Tradition
REBAN has been organizing the Pokhara Street Festival for the past 26 years to establish Pokhara as a premier destination for celebrating the English New Year. The association reiterated that this year’s festival will continue that legacy while introducing new attractions and programs to enhance visitor experience.
With preparations underway and nationwide promotion in full swing, the 27th Pokhara Street Festival is expected to draw large crowds and further strengthen Pokhara’s position as one of Nepal’s most vibrant tourism and cultural destinations.
