Everest Alliance Nepal (EAN) has formally announced the organization of the Everest Summiteers Summit 2026 under the theme “Himalayan Innovation for a Sustainable Future.” The international summit will be held in Kathmandu on May 27, 2026, on the occasion of International Everest Day, which is observed globally on May 29.
The summit will commemorate the world’s first successful ascent of Mount Everest by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary and aims to bring together Everest summiteers, policymakers, mountaineering institutions, conservation advocates, tourism entrepreneurs and international partners from Nepal and around the world.

Global Platform for Himalayan Sustainability Dialogue
According to the organizers, the summit will serve as a high-level global forum to discuss critical issues related to mountaineering safety, climate change, glacier melting, waste management, sustainable Himalayan tourism and policy reform. It seeks to promote collaborative solutions to protect Everest and the fragile Himalayan ecosystem while strengthening Nepal’s mountain tourism sector.
The one-day event will feature keynote addresses, expert panel discussions and policy dialogues, creating a platform for knowledge sharing and international cooperation. The summit will also highlight Sagarmatha as a shared global heritage that requires collective responsibility for its preservation.
Building on the Success of the First Summit
EAN said the first Everest Summiteers Summit held in 2025 received significant international recognition, generating constructive dialogue on Himalayan conservation and responsible mountaineering. Building on that success, the second edition is expected to be more impactful, forward-looking and solution-oriented.
The 2026 summit will focus on innovative approaches to strengthen sustainability in high-altitude tourism, introduce policy reforms and encourage responsible expedition practices in the Sagarmatha region and beyond.

Call for Collaboration and Participation
EAN has called upon government bodies, international organisations, sponsors, mountaineering federations, academic institutions and media houses to collaborate in making the summit a success. The organizers have also opened registration for Everest summiteers and other stakeholders interested in participating in the event.
Through this summit, EAN aims to reinforce Nepal’s leadership in global mountain conservation dialogue and inspire coordinated action for the protection of the Himalayas for future generations.
