Simrik Air Inducts Airbus H125 in Nepal

Simrik Air Helicopter has expanded its operational fleet with the induction of a new Airbus H125 (AS350 B3e) helicopter, registered as 9N-AOO, significantly strengthening its capacity to operate across Nepal’s challenging high-altitude and mountainous terrain.

Widely recognised as the global benchmark for high-altitude helicopter performance, the Airbus H125 is particularly suited to Nepal’s Himalayan environment. With its powerful engine, exceptional lifting capability, and proven reliability in extreme conditions, the aircraft enhances Simrik Air’s ability to carry out complex missions where safety, precision, and responsiveness are critical.

Designed for Nepal’s extreme terrain

Specifically engineered for operations in rugged and high-elevation environments, the Airbus H125 is trusted worldwide for mountain rescue, medical evacuation, and operations in remote regions. In Nepal, where weather conditions can change rapidly and landing zones are often limited, the helicopter’s performance capabilities offer a crucial operational advantage.

According to Simrik Air, the newly inducted aircraft will be deployed across a wide range of missions, including mountain rescue and emergency evacuations, high-altitude longline rescue, cargo sling load operations, trekking and expedition support flights, aerial firefighting, aerial surveys and filming, and VIP and corporate charter services. It will also support pilgrimage flights, remote access operations, and specialised activities such as skydiving missions.

The addition of the H125 enhances the company’s flexibility and response time, particularly in life-saving missions in remote Himalayan regions where access by road is often impossible.

Strengthening support for tourism and emergency services

The fleet expansion comes at a time when demand for helicopter services in Nepal is rising, driven by growth in adventure tourism, trekking, religious travel, and emergency response needs. Helicopter aviation plays a vital role in Nepal’s tourism ecosystem, enabling access to remote destinations, supporting high-altitude expeditions, and ensuring rapid evacuation in case of accidents or altitude-related medical emergencies.

Simrik Air said the new induction further reinforces its long-standing support to government agencies, tourism and trekking operators, diplomatic missions, NGOs and INGOs, corporate clients, and emergency response authorities.

By enhancing operational safety and efficiency, the helicopter is expected to contribute positively to Nepal’s reputation as a safe and well-supported destination for adventure tourism, particularly in the Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang regions.

Proven aircraft with global trust

The Airbus H125 has earned global recognition for its record-setting high-altitude performance, including landings at extreme elevations. Its ability to operate efficiently in thin air and harsh weather conditions makes it a preferred aircraft for rescue agencies and operators in mountainous countries.

In Nepal’s context, where unpredictable weather, steep terrain, and limited infrastructure pose constant operational challenges, the helicopter’s reliability and versatility are critical assets. Aviation experts note that modern, high-performance helicopters are essential not only for tourism but also for disaster response, humanitarian missions, and environmental protection, including aerial firefighting during forest fire seasons.

Expanding fleet, reaffirming commitment

With the induction of 9N-AOO, Simrik Air now operates a total of four helicopters, three Airbus H125s and one Bell 505 Jet Ranger X. The expanded fleet reflects the company’s continued investment in modern aircraft and advanced technology to meet the growing demands of high-altitude aviation in Nepal.

The operator reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, training, and operational excellence, particularly in missions where human lives depend on reliable and timely air support.
