Nepal has consistently leveraged SATTE to position itself as more than a trekking or pilgrimage destination. It now highlights luxury travel, wellness retreats, wildlife adventures, MICE tourism, destination weddings, and experiential holidays, making the country a comprehensive tourism hub.
Nepal’s Strategic Focus Areas at SATTE 2026
At the event, Nepal will emphasize:
- Religious & Spiritual Tourism – Iconic sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Muktinath Temple, Janaki Mandir, and Lumbini.
- Short-Haul & Weekend Getaways – Leisure destinations including Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and Chitwan National Park.
- Luxury & Wellness Tourism – Boutique hotels, mountain resorts, and holistic wellness retreats.
- Adventure Tourism – Activities such as paragliding, rafting, mountain biking, trekking, bungee jumping, and Everest heli-tours.
- MICE Tourism – Incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and experiential add-ons.
- Destination Weddings & Honeymoons – Himalayan vistas, serene lakes, and premium hospitality venues.
India: A Key Market for Nepal Tourism
India continues to lead international arrivals to Nepal, contributing 25–30% of total international visitors. January 2026 recorded a 30% increase in Indian arrivals compared to January 2025, reflecting renewed travel confidence and strong interest in Nepalese tourism.
The open Indo-Nepal border of approximately 1,850 km, along with robust air connectivity via Nepal Airlines, Buddha Air, Air India Express, and IndiGo, provides Indian travelers easy access to Nepal. Favorable exchange rates (NPR 1.60 = INR 1) further enhance the attractiveness of Nepal as a preferred destination.
Promoting Ready-to-Market Products
According to Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, “SATTE remains a strategic platform to strengthen Nepal–India tourism ties and promote diversified experiences for Indian travelers.”
This year, the Nepal Pavilion will present ready-to-sell, high-demand tourism products, enabling Indian travel trade professionals to offer packaged adventures, cultural tours, wellness retreats, and MICE experiences with confirmed operational support, ensuring profitability and service quality.
Nepal’s participation at SATTE 2026 reflects a forward-looking strategy, highlighting the country’s resilience, improved infrastructure, and dynamic private sector engagement. With a strong emphasis on adventure, culture, wellness, and luxury tourism, the initiative is expected to enhance market penetration, attract high-value travelers, and strengthen Nepal’s positioning as a premium South Asian destination.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the Nepal Pavilion at Stall No. B32 to discover the full spectrum of tourism offerings, business opportunities, and curated travel experiences available for the Indian market.
