Nepali mountaineer Dawa Finjok Sherpa has officially been recognized by Guinness World Records as the fastest person to climb Mount Everest three times from the Nepal (South) side.
The record confirms his incredible time of 8 days, 13 hours, and 35 minutes, achieved with three successful ascents on 12, 17, and 20 May 2024.

Record-Breaking Ascents
The official Guinness citation reads: “The fastest time to climb Everest three times from the Nepal (South) side is 8 days, 13 hours, and 35 minutes by Dawa Finjok Sherpa (Nepal), who made his ascents from base camp to summit on 12, 17, and 20 May 2024.”

Dawa Finjok Sherpa’s first ascent was on 12 May at 7:25 am, followed by his second on 17 May at 3:16 pm, and his third, record-setting summit on 20 May at 9:00 pm. All climbs were completed with supplemental oxygen as part of the Seven Summit Treks Everest Expedition.

Sherpa Community Celebrates the Feat
Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Director of Seven Summit Treks, lauded the achievement, saying, “His feat is not just a personal triumph, but a source of inspiration for the entire mountaineering community.” He added that the record reflects the dedication, resilience, and physical and mental strength of the Sherpa community.
Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, stands at 8,848.86 metres, and all three of Dawa’s ascents were made via the traditional South route from Nepal’s base camp.
