Saurya Airlines Aircraft Scheduled for Technical Check in Pokhara Crashes En Route

Jasoda Subedi, the spokesperson for Pokhara International Airport, has announced that the Saurya Airlines aircraft involved in today’s accident was on its way to Pokhara for a technical check due to the availability of well-equipped hangars at the airport.

The aircraft, with registration 9N-AME, crashed this morning while traveling from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The crash resulted in the death of 18 individuals on board. The plane fell into a ditch on the eastern side of the runway at Tribhuvan International Airport during its flight.

Subedi explained, “The aircraft was scheduled to undergo a technical check after a certain number of flying hours, not due to any malfunction. It was set to arrive in Pokhara where the airline’s staff and technicians were on board to conduct the check in the facility-equipped hangars.”

This incident recalls a similar tragedy last year when a Yeti Airlines aircraft crashed near Pokhara International Airport while traveling from Kathmandu, resulting in the loss of 72 lives.
