The postmortem of the 18 individuals who tragically lost their lives in the Saurya Airlines plane crash is set to commence on Wednesday. According to sources at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, all technical personnel involved in the postmortem have been notified to report to the hospital.
An official from the hospital indicated that the postmortem will start once the victims’ relatives and representatives from Saurya Airlines arrive. “We have informed the fingerprint and DNA teams. The postmortem will begin once all teams and airline representatives are present,” the official said. “Preparing for this process will take about two hours.”
The official further mentioned that it would take three days to release the bodies to the relatives after completing the postmortem.
The crash occurred on Wednesday at 11:11 AM as the Saurya Airlines aircraft, which was en route from Tribhuvan International Airport to Pokhara, caught fire immediately after takeoff, resulting in the deaths of 18 people. The pilot, Manish Shakya, sustained injuries in the incident.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for postmortem, while injured pilot Manish Shakya is receiving treatment at KMC Teaching Hospital in Sinamangal.
The aircraft, which was being flown with 18 passengers and pilot Manish Shakya, was on its way to Pokhara for maintenance when the tragedy occurred.
