HAN to Promote Destination Wedding and Luxury Tourism in New Delhi

The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) is set to organize a major tourism promotion program in New Delhi, India, as part of its strategic effort to attract Indian travelers and strengthen Nepal’s position as a preferred regional destination. The initiative comes amid rising interest from Indian tourists and shifting global travel patterns influenced by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Two-Day Promotional Event in India

Scheduled for April 28 and 29, 2026 (Baishakh 15–16, 2083), the two-day promotional event will bring together more than 100 member hotels of HAN from across Nepal. The program is being organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi and supported by the Nepal Tourism Board, aiming to strengthen tourism ties between Nepal and India.

The initiative is being launched as HAN marks its diamond jubilee, reflecting a renewed commitment to expanding Nepal’s tourism outreach in key source markets, particularly India, which remains the largest contributor to Nepal’s international arrivals.

Focus on Destination Weddings and Wellness Tourism

This year’s promotion places special emphasis on destination wedding tourism and wellness-based travel experiences. On the evening of April 28, HAN will host the “Nepal Destination Wedding Connect” program, designed to connect leading Indian wedding planners and Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) with Nepal’s luxury hotels and resorts.

The session will showcase Nepal as a premium wedding destination, highlighting scenic venues, heritage properties, and high-end hospitality services. Alongside wedding tourism, the event will also promote health and wellness tourism, positioning Nepal as a holistic travel destination for Indian families seeking both leisure and rejuvenation.

Business Networking and Tourism Agreements

The second day of the event, April 29, will focus on business-to-business (B2B) interactions between Nepali hoteliers and major Indian travel and tour operators. These meetings are expected to result in new agreements for customized travel packages targeting the Indian market. The initiative aims to strengthen long-term partnerships and improve tourist flow by creating structured tourism products tailored to Indian travelers, especially during peak holiday seasons.

Nepal Tourism Promotion Evening

The event will conclude with the “Nepal Tourism Promotion Evening,” a networking and promotional program featuring presentations of tourism packages, hotel profiles, and destination highlights. The session will be coordinated with the Nepal Tourism Board, which will present Nepal as a safe, accessible, and high-value destination offering diverse travel experiences ranging from luxury stays to adventure tourism.

Growing Demand from Indian Travelers

“Nepal is witnessing strong growth potential in luxury tourism, supported by improving hotel infrastructure and rising service standards,” said Sajan Shakya, General Secretary of the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN). “With its proximity to India, favorable summer climate, and deep cultural ties, Nepal is an increasingly attractive destination for Indian families.”

He further added that Nepal has significant untapped opportunities in luxury and destination wedding tourism, which are rapidly growing in the Indian travel market. “The continuous rise in quality hotels and resorts across the country positions Nepal strongly to capture this demand and expand its presence in high-value tourism segments,” Shakya stated.

Strengthening Nepal’s Tourism Brand in India

HAN believes that the initiative will help reposition Nepal as a top-of-mind destination for Indian travelers seeking luxury experiences, family holidays, destination weddings, and wellness retreats. The association also highlighted that Indian tourists are particularly drawn to Nepal during the summer due to its pleasant weather and easy accessibility. By leveraging cultural ties, geographic proximity, and improved hospitality offerings, HAN aims to significantly boost tourist arrivals from India and strengthen Nepal’s overall tourism economy.

The New Delhi promotional campaign marks a key step in Nepal’s broader tourism recovery and expansion strategy. With strong participation from the private sector, diplomatic missions, and tourism authorities, the initiative is expected to open new opportunities for collaboration, investment, and sustained growth in Nepal’s hospitality and tourism industry.
