Fearless APF Officer Nim Diki Sherpa Triumphs on Lobuche, Eyes Historic Everest Climb

Assistant Sub-Inspector Nim Diki Sherpa of the Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) has successfully summited Lobuche Peak (6,119m), marking a significant step toward her historic goal of climbing Mount Everest. According to APF headquarters, Sherpa reached the summit at 8:57 am on the first day of the Nepali New Year 2083. The climb is seen as a crucial acclimatization effort as she prepares for higher-altitude expeditions this spring season.

Strategic Climb for Lhotse and Everest Attempts

The Lobuche ascent forms part of the Sherpa’s broader plan to attempt both Lhotse and Mount Everest in the ongoing climbing season. High-altitude peaks like Lobuche are commonly used by climbers to adapt to extreme conditions before attempting the world’s highest mountains. If successful, Nim Diki Sherpa is set to make history as the first female junior officer from the APF to summit Everest.

Guided by Record-Holding Mountaineer

Sherpa is being guided by Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa, a Guinness World Record holder known for climbing Everest four times within just 15 days. He will lead her throughout the Everest expedition, ensuring technical support and safety during the challenging ascent.

International Support for the Expedition

The Everest campaign has received financial backing from the US Nepal Climbers Association (USNCA). According to USNCA President Jangbu Sherpa, more than Rs. 400,000 has already been raised through contributions from life members, the executive board, and supporters. “USNCA congratulates her for the success on Lobuche and offers best wishes for her record-setting Everest climb,” he said.

Aiming to Create History in APF

Sherpa’s Everest mission carries both personal and institutional significance. If she successfully summits Everest, she will become the first female officer in the history of the Armed Police Force to achieve the feat. Her success would also follow the legacy of APF climbers such as DSP Suraj Poudel and ASI Dantabahadur Chhantyal, who have previously summited Everest and brought recognition to the organization.
