A total of 3,794 tourists were recorded at the Sikles Checkpost under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) during the period from April 1 to April 30, 2026, reflecting a steady increase in tourist movement in the region. The data indicates a notable rise in internal (domestic) tourism, alongside a modest but steady flow of international visitors to the scenic Gurung village and its surrounding trekking routes in Kaski district.
Domestic Tourists Dominate Visitor Numbers
Out of the total visitors, the majority were domestic tourists, highlighting the growing popularity of internal travel within Nepal. The checkpost recorded 1,902 female and 1,892 male visitors overall, showing a nearly equal gender distribution among travelers. Officials noted that this balanced participation reflects increasing accessibility and interest in nature-based travel among Nepali citizens.
International Visitor Arrivals Also Recorded
During the same period, 88 international tourists entered the Sikles region. Among them, 61 were male and 27 were female travelers. Although smaller in number compared to domestic tourists, the international arrivals indicate continued global interest in trekking routes within the Annapurna region, especially among nature and adventure enthusiasts.
Sikles Gains Popularity as a Trekking Destination
