The famous pilgrimage site Pathibhara (Mukumlung) in Taplejung has accumulated donations amounting to over eight crores. These funds are currently held by the Pathibhara Area Development Committee.
According to the annual report of the Pathibhara Area Development Committee, a total of NPR 81,379,363 in donations has been collected so far. Executive Director Prajin Hangbang reported that this amount remains with the committee after accounting for various expenditures, including the construction of infrastructure, salaries of employees, and other expenses.
By the end of the last fiscal year 2080/81, a total of NPR 128,099,251 was collected, including bank deposits, interest on the remaining amount, and donations received. Out of this, NPR 46,719,887 was spent during the last fiscal year, leaving the remaining funds with the committee, as explained by Executive Director Hangbang.
In the past year alone, NPR 39,841,315 in donations was collected. From the expenses during the last fiscal year, NPR 8,494,628 was spent solely on the salaries of contractual employees.
Additionally, aside from internal revenue and expenditure, the committee received NPR 13,903,011 as government grants. Of this, NPR 634,212 was spent on the salary and benefits of the executive director. The budget also covered salaries for contractual staff, office management, and infrastructure projects such as the construction of pilgrim pathways, rest areas, drinking water facilities, and toilets, according to Director Hangbang.
