The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has completed a three-day Rock Climbing Training Programme at Bimal Nagar in Tanahun district, providing aspiring mountain professionals with practical training aimed at strengthening their technical climbing skills and professional competencies. A total of 20 participants took part in the training, which focused on developing essential rock-climbing techniques required for safe and professional mountain leadership.

Training Focused on Building Professional Mountain Leaders
The programme was conducted as part of the Professional Mountain Leader (PML) Fundamental Skill curriculum, designed to equip participants with the practical knowledge and technical expertise needed for guiding and managing mountain-related activities.

Through hands-on instruction and field-based exercises, participants enhanced their climbing abilities while gaining valuable experience in safe climbing practices and mountain leadership techniques. The training also contributed to improving their professional capacity for careers in Nepal’s growing adventure and mountain tourism industry.

Support from Nepal Tourism Board Appreciated
The Nepal Mountaineering Association expressed its sincere appreciation to the Gandaki Province Office of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) for providing financial support that made the training programme possible. NMA stated that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening Nepal’s adventure tourism sector by producing skilled and professionally trained human resources.

Commitment to Capacity Building
The association emphasized that it looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Nepal Tourism Board in organizing future training programmes and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality, safety, and professionalism of Nepal’s mountaineering and adventure tourism industry. Such programmes are expected to play an important role in developing qualified mountain leaders, promoting safe climbing practices, and supporting the sustainable growth of Nepal’s internationally renowned mountain tourism sector.
