Nepal’s index market continued its positive momentum on the second trading day of the fiscal year 2083/84, with both the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index and the Hotels and Tourism Index posting strong gains amid increased investor participation.
The Hotels and Tourism Index emerged as one of the top-performing sectoral indices, while the broader market also closed firmly in positive territory.

Hotels and Tourism Index Rises 1.98 Percent
The Hotels and Tourism Index gained 145.47 points, or 1.98 percent, to close at 7,477.96. The sector opened the session at 7,427.97 and traded between an intraday low of 7,307.50 and a high of 7,477.96 before ending at its session high.
The latest gain follows a strong rally in the previous trading session, when the Hotels and Tourism Index had advanced 259.38 points, indicating sustained investor confidence in tourism-related stocks at the start of the new fiscal year.

NEPSE Continues Upward Momentum
The benchmark NEPSE also extended its gains, rising 41.70 points, or 1.55 percent, to close at 2,719.24. The sector opened at 2,661.97 and fluctuated between an intraday low of 2,659.53 and a high of 2,719.28 before settling at the day’s close. The latest increase came after the benchmark had gained 79.74 points in the previous trading session, reflecting continued optimism among investors.
Turnover Exceeds Rs 5.5 Billion
Market activity remained robust, with total daily turnover reaching Rs. 5.51 billion. A total of 12.24 million shares of 343 listed companies were traded through 67,155 transactions, indicating healthy trading activity across the market.

Market Capitalization Nears Rs. 47 Trillion
Following the day’s gains, the total market capitalization of the Nepal Stock Exchange reached Rs. 46.73 trillion, while the float market capitalization stood at Rs. 15.75 trillion.
The continued rise in both the benchmark and sectoral indices signals a positive start to the new fiscal year, with investors showing renewed interest in equities, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sector.
