The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 13.95 points, or 0.51 percent, to close at 2,712.54 points on Wednesday. The benchmark index had gained 7.25 points in the previous trading session.
The market opened at 2,719.89 points and fluctuated throughout the session, reaching an intraday high of 2,722.58 points and a low of 2,694.54 points before settling at 2,712.54 points.

Trading Activity Remains Strong
Total turnover stood at Rs. 5.18 arba during the trading session. A total of 11,362,465 shares of 346 companies were traded through 56,094 transactions.
The total market capitalization stood at Rs. 46.61 kharba, while the float market capitalization reached Rs. 15.70 kharba by the end of the trading session.

Hotels and Tourism Sector Declines Further
The Hotels and Tourism Index also recorded a moderate decline, falling 23.59 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 7,436.49 points.
The sectoral index opened at 7,424.05 points and fluctuated between an intraday high of 7,482.14 points and a low of 7,382.05 points before settling at the closing level. The latest decline follows a loss of 17.87 points in the previous trading session, extending the sector’s recent downward movement.

Broader Market Closes Lower
The broader market ended the session in negative territory as the NEPSE index declined despite relatively strong trading activity. The market’s movement during the session reflected continued volatility, with investors actively trading shares across various sectors.
The decline in the benchmark index came after the previous session’s gain of 7.25 points, indicating continued fluctuations in investor sentiment.
