Himalaya Jet, which has been working to establish direct long-haul air connectivity between Nepal and the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, has announced that preparations for the project have reached the final stage.
The company said the long-awaited project has moved forward after nearly three years of political and regulatory challenges in Nepal. It stated that the initial preparations required to achieve its long-term objective of connecting Nepal with major international destinations through direct air services have now been completed.
Recruitment Begins for Customer Service and Operations Positions
As part of the first phase of its preparations, Himalaya Jet has opened vacancies for a range of positions related to customer service, airport operations, administration, finance, human resources, marketing and information technology.
The company is seeking applications for positions including Passenger Service Officer, Customer Service Executive, Airport Operations Assistant, Reservation and Ticketing Officer, Contact Centre Advisor, Ground Operations Associate, Administration and Office Assistant, Finance and Accounting Assistant, Human Resources Officer, Marketing and Sales Executive, IT Support Officer and Operations Coordinator.
Applications are open to Nepali citizens residing in Nepal, the UK, Europe and Australia, as well as foreign nationals who are fluent in Nepali. Interested candidates can submit their CVs to [email protected]. The deadline for applications is July 30, 2026.
Company Aims to Address Nepal’s Long-Haul Connectivity Gap
Himalaya Jet said Nepal, despite being home to eight of the world’s highest mountains and being a major international tourism destination, has lacked direct long-haul air services for more than 35 years. According to the company, the absence of direct connectivity has created difficulties for international tourists and non-resident Nepalis travelling between Nepal and major destinations in Europe, the UK and Australia. The company has expressed confidence that its proposed project will help address this long-standing gap and contribute to strengthening Nepal’s tourism, trade and international connectivity.
Global Aviation Experts Involved in Preparations
Himalaya Jet stated that the project is the result of years of dedication, persistent effort and commitment. Preparations for initial flight operations have been carried out with the support of international aviation experts and consultants, coordination with global civil aviation authorities and policymakers, and partnerships with recognised air operators from the UK, Europe and Australia.
The company said these partnerships have been established to support the initial stage of its proposed operations and help create the necessary foundation for long-haul services linking Nepal with international destinations.
Partner Airlines to Operate Initial Services
According to Himalaya Jet, the company plans to operate its initial services through partner airlines until it obtains its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
Following the acquisition of its own AOC, the company intends to operate regular flights under its own certification. Himalaya Jet has also expressed the expectation that Nepal will have been removed from the European Union’s air safety list by the time it begins operating flights under its own AOC.
The company said it will provide further details about its project during its first international press conference, which is scheduled to be held in London in the near future.
Experienced Flight Crew and Ground Services Arranged
Himalaya Jet said arrangements have already been made for experienced pilots and cabin crew through its partner airlines. Ground-handling services in the UK, Europe and Australia will be provided by qualified ground service companies, according to the company. The arrangement is intended to support the initial phase of operations while Himalaya Jet continues to develop its own long-term operational structure.
Project Expected to Create Thousands of Jobs
The company has described the project as an important step towards directly connecting Nepal with the global aviation network. It believes the proposed services could provide a major boost to tourism by improving direct access for international visitors and Nepalis living abroad.
Himalaya Jet also said the project is expected to create thousands of employment opportunities in the future, both directly and indirectly, across aviation, tourism, airport operations, hospitality and related sectors.
The company stated that its long-term vision is to strengthen Nepal’s international connectivity, promote tourism and establish a direct aviation link between Nepal and key destinations across the UK, Europe and Australia.
