Sultan’s Arabic Grill and Papa’s Bar & Grill has officially opened in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, introducing a new dining and entertainment destination focused on Arabic cuisine and hospitality.
The restaurant has been launched by filmmaker and entrepreneur Bhabisya Khadka and entrepreneur Kedarnath Adhikari in collaboration with an Arabic partner. The venture aims to bring the traditional flavors and culinary culture of the Arab world to both Nepali and international customers in Kathmandu.
More Than 100 Arabic-Inspired Dishes
Sultan’s Arabic Grill offers a menu featuring more than 100 dishes, including hummus, mutabbal, baba ghanoush, shawarma, chicken kebab, shish taouk, mandi and biryani.
According to Khadka, the restaurant has brought in professional Arabic chefs to ensure authenticity in taste and preparation. She said the objective is not only to operate a restaurant but also to create an immersive cultural and hospitality experience centered around Arabic cuisine.
Khadka also highlighted the growing potential of MICE tourism in Nepal and expressed confidence that Sultan’s Arabic Grill can establish itself as a distinctive destination for Arabic cuisine and experiences in Kathmandu.
Food, Drinks and Entertainment Under One Roof
Alongside Sultan’s Arabic Grill, Papa’s Bar & Grill has also been launched at the same location, offering food, beverages, music, entertainment and a social environment.
The venue is designed to cater to families, groups of friends, local diners, tourists and foreign residents in Kathmandu. Papa’s Bar features live entertainment, including performances by international dancers, providing guests with an additional entertainment experience alongside dining.
Connecting Arabic Cuisine With Gastronomic Tourism
The entry of Sultan’s Arabic Grill comes at a time when Kathmandu’s tourism and hospitality industry is increasingly embracing international cuisines.
The restaurant aims to connect Arabic cuisine with Kathmandu’s growing gastronomic tourism sector. It particularly targets visitors from Middle Eastern and Arab countries by offering familiar flavors while also introducing Nepali customers to a different culinary culture. The restaurant also aims to serve the international community in Kathmandu, members of the diplomatic community, tourists and local food enthusiasts seeking new dining experiences.
Plans to Expand Hospitality Business
Khadka said the promoters are looking to develop the venture beyond a single restaurant and have plans to launch Sultan Hospitality in the future. With its focus on authentic Arabic cuisine, cultural experiences, entertainment and hospitality, Sultan’s Arabic Grill seeks to establish itself as a new international dining destination in Kathmandu while contributing to the diversification of Nepal’s tourism and gastronomic offerings.
