Nepal Tourism Board Brings 35 Travel Creators Together to Showcase the “Real Nepal”

Nepal is turning to the power of digital storytelling to present a richer and more authentic image of the country to the world. In a major effort to strengthen tourism promotion, 35 renowned travel video makers, vloggers and influencers gathered at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation for an interaction organized by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The program focused on how travel creators can help showcase Nepal beyond its famous mountains, landscapes and heritage sites by highlighting the country’s people, culture, hospitality, traditions and everyday experiences.

The interaction also explored ways to make Nepal’s tourism storytelling more engaging, relatable and relevant to international audiences. The program was attended by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Paudel (Ganess), Chairman of the Nepal Tourism Board and Secretary of the Ministry Mukund Prasad Niraula, and Officiating CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board Hikmat Singh Ayer.

From Everest to Everyday Nepal: Why Authentic Stories Matter

Addressing the interaction, Minister Khadak Raj Paudel (Ganess) stressed that Nepal’s tourism identity should not be limited to its mountains, natural beauty and heritage attractions. He called for greater emphasis on presenting the “real Nepal” to international audiences. According to the minister, Nepal’s people, warm hospitality, culture, traditions, stories and everyday experiences are equally important parts of the country’s tourism appeal. Presenting these elements through genuine and personal stories can help visitors gain a deeper understanding of Nepal before they arrive.

For many travelers, tourism decisions are increasingly influenced by real experiences and personal recommendations. Travel creators can bring Nepal closer to potential visitors through videos, photographs, and first-hand accounts that show what it is truly like to explore the country. Their content can introduce audiences to local communities, traditional lifestyles, food, cultural practices, hospitality, and lesser-known destinations that may not always receive attention through conventional tourism campaigns. Officiating CEO Hikmat Singh Ayer welcomed the participating creators and called for their continued support in promoting Nepal’s destinations, attractions and tourism experiences to audiences around the world.

35 Creators, One Bigger Tourism Story

The interaction provided a platform for travel creators to share their experiences, observations and recommendations on Nepal’s tourism promotion. Their participation reflected the growing importance of digital platforms in shaping how travelers discover and understand destinations. During the discussion, participants emphasized the need for stronger coordination among tourism-related agencies, better synchronization of promotional activities, and more effective use of the high-quality content already being produced about Nepal.

The creators also highlighted the importance of ensuring that tourism promotion is more connected, consistent and focused. Nepal already attracts numerous travelers who produce videos, photographs and stories about their experiences. Better coordination could help such content reach wider audiences and contribute more effectively to the country’s overall tourism objectives.

Turning Travel Content Into Global Attention

The discussion highlighted the changing nature of destination marketing. Travel creators are increasingly becoming an important link between destinations and potential visitors because they present places through personal experiences rather than formal advertisements. Their stories can show Nepal from a more human perspective through its communities, traditions, cuisine, hospitality, and hidden destinations. Such content can help international audiences understand not only where Nepal is, but also what it feels like to experience the country. Firsthand travel stories can also encourage visitors to explore beyond the most familiar tourism routes. By sharing their journeys, creators can bring attention to destinations and experiences that may otherwise remain outside the international spotlight.

A More Powerful Way to Present Nepal

The interaction organized by the Nepal Tourism Board marked an effort to bring tourism institutions, stakeholders and digital creators closer together. It emphasized the importance of making content creators part of Nepal’s broader tourism storytelling process. Stronger cooperation among the NTB, tourism stakeholders and digital creators could help Nepal reach wider international audiences while presenting a more complete image of the country. Such collaboration can highlight not only Nepal’s iconic landscapes but also the people, culture, hospitality and stories that make each destination memorable.

The message from the program was clear: Nepal’s tourism story becomes more powerful when it is told by people who experience the country firsthand. By combining institutional promotion with the reach and creativity of travel creators, Nepal can bring the “real Nepal” closer to travelers around the world one authentic story at a time.
