The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has issued a circular urging its member agencies to immediately provide details of tourists, employees and assets affected by the disaster.
The devastating flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa has left a large number of tourists and tourism workers unaccounted for, raising serious concerns across Nepal’s tourism sector.
According to the preliminary information published by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), 384 travelers who were traveling through various travel agencies were reported out of contact in the affected area following the flood on August 26, 2026 (Bhadra 10, 2083) at around 8:30 a.m. Of the 384 travelers, 291 were foreign nationals, and 93 were Nepali nationals.
644 Tourism-Related People Reported Unaccounted For
NATTA has stated that it has so far received information indicating that 644 people associated with the tourism sector are unaccounted for in connection with the disaster.
The association said the situation has caused an unprecedented loss to Nepal’s tourism industry and called for accurate and timely information from its member companies to support search, rescue and coordination efforts.
Tourists From Multiple Travel Agencies Affected
According to the details circulated by NATTA, tourists traveling through several travel and trekking companies have been reported missing or out of contact.
Trekkers Society has reported the highest number at 92 people, followed by Samrat Tours & Travels with 71, Leaf Holiday with 55, and Himalayan Glacier with 52.
Other affected agencies include Kailash Journey, Fishtail Tours & Travels, Alpine Eco Trek, Explore Vacation, Kathmandu Holiday Tours & Travels and Richa Tours & Travels, among others.
NATTA’s circular also states that a tourist vehicle belonging to its member company Rosha Travels & Tours, along with the vehicle and driver, has been reported out of contact.
NATTA Calls for Immediate Reporting of Losses
NATTA has requested all member companies not already included in the reported list to immediately provide information if any tourists or employees traveling through their agencies are unaccounted for, or if they have suffered human casualties, vehicle losses, or any other form of property damage.
The association has asked members to submit the information to the NATTA Secretariat or through the Google Form provided in its circular.
Coordination With Authorities for Search and Rescue
NATTA said the information collected from member agencies will be used to coordinate with security agencies, the Nepal Tourism Board and local authorities.
The association has pledged to initiate immediate efforts for search, rescue and necessary facilitation based on verified information received from its members.
NATTA General Secretary Raj Kumar Devkota, who issued the circular, urged tourism stakeholders to remain united, patient and coordinated during the crisis.
