The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has stepped beyond its core tourism responsibilities to extend humanitarian support to people affected and displaced by the recent catastrophic floods in Battar, Nuwakot. In coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, NATTA mobilized a relief initiative to provide immediate assistance to flood-affected communities facing shortages of food, shelter and other basic necessities.
First Consignment Handed Over at Battar Army Barracks
As part of the first phase of its disaster response, a NATTA delegation led by President Bharat Jung Pandey travelled to Battar, Nuwakot, and delivered the first consignment of essential relief materials to the Battar Army Barracks. The relief materials were provided for further coordination and distribution to families and communities affected by the floods.
The first batch of assistance included food items, drinking water, essential clothing, hygiene and sanitation materials, shelter-related necessities, and other daily-use supplies. The initiative was aimed at addressing the immediate needs of people who have been displaced or whose homes and livelihoods have been affected by the disaster.
NATTA Leadership Leads Humanitarian Response
President Bharat Jung Pandey led the delegation to Battar to coordinate the delivery of relief materials and assess the situation on the ground. He was accompanied by Secretary General Raj Kumar Devkota, Joint Treasurer Jeevan Koirala, and Executive Member Dinesh Mainali.
The direct involvement of NATTA’s leadership in the relief mission demonstrates the association’s commitment to supporting communities during times of crisis. While NATTA primarily represents Nepal’s tourism and travel industry, the association has emphasized that its responsibility extends beyond the tourism sector, particularly when communities are affected by natural disasters.
Immediate Support and Continued Relief Efforts
The first phase of the initiative focuses on providing immediate humanitarian assistance to flood-affected families in Battar. By coordinating with government authorities and utilizing local mechanisms for relief distribution, NATTA aims to ensure that essential supplies reach communities in need in an organized and effective manner.
The initiative also reflects the social responsibility and solidarity of Nepal’s tourism fraternity toward communities affected by natural calamities. NATTA’s initial relief operation is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to provide food, shelter and essential supplies to displaced families as they begin the difficult process of recovery and rehabilitation.
