Tragic Plane Crash in Brazil Claims 61 Lives

A tragic plane crash in Brazil has resulted in the loss of 61 lives. The incident occurred near the city of Vinhedo, close to São Paulo, on Friday at 1:30 PM local time. The ill-fated ATR-72 aircraft, operated by Waypass Airlines, crashed, killing all passengers and crew on board.

According to international media reports citing the airline, there were 57 passengers and four crew members aboard the flight. The aircraft was en route from Cascavel in Paraná state to São Paulo’s international airport. Among the passengers were several doctors traveling to São Paulo to attend a seminar.

The plane crashed near a house approximately 80 kilometers northwest of São Paulo in the town of Vinhedo. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed at the crash site, as confirmed by local police, according to Reuters.

In the aftermath of the crash, the airline issued a statement expressing deep sorrow: “We are saddened to inform that all 61 people on board Flight 2283 lost their lives at the crash site. Our priority at this time is to support the families of the victims. We are cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the crash.”

Further details about the passengers have not been released. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, and the aircraft’s black box has been recovered for analysis.
