Royal Tulip Chitwan, a luxury resort in the Sauraha of Chitwan, has been designated as the Five Star Deluxe by the Department of Tourism after a field inspection by a team of officials. The Royal Tulip Chitwan resort, run by KTM Hospitality Limited, has been awarded with this rating according to the government’s requirements about the physical premises, services, security, and other facets of guests’ amenities.
KTM Hospitality had applied for the classification about three weeks before the inspection. The Royal Tulip Chitwan received due approval from a four member team, headed by a director level official, which completed a review of the resort’s physical premises and services to determine if the resort met the requirements for the top hotel category.
Resort meets government requirements
The Department of Tourism granted the resort with the Five Star Deluxe following the inspection by the team of officials, who found that the resort had met the requirements. The new rating further bolsters the resort’s credentials in the Sauraha, a key tourism hub for wildlife and nature experiences in Chitwan.
The Royal Tulip Chitwan resort has integrated its facilities with a number of locally sourced materials and traditional designs, including wooden furniture, stone tiles, stone roofing, jute carpets, locally made wooden artifacts, decorative items and mandro, creating a unique Nepali look. This, along with the modern amenities such as a pool, gym and health club, and helipad, has enabled the property to offer a blend of traditional and contemporary hospitality in Chitwan.
Luxury Accommodation Near Wildlife Destination
Royal Tulip Chitwan is located on a 4.12 acre plot of land near the Rapti River, close to the Janakauli and Kumroj Community Forest. The resort has 65 modern rooms and includes a range of other facilities, including restaurants, a swimming pool, gym, health club and helipad, and a revolving restaurant.
In addition to the resort’s standard luxury facilies, it also has a dedicated sports bar for leisure time entertainment and a first of its kind “Tanavi Bar” in Nepal. Its proximity to the Rapti River and community forests also makes it well situated in the established wildlife tourism environment of Sauraha.
International Brand Manages Hotel Property
The Royal Tulip Chitwan is managed under a management agreement with the Royal Tulip brand, which is part of the international Louvre Hotels Group. The resort started its soft opening last month in July 2025, and commenced its full operations in mid December 2025. Officials from the Department of Tourism who conducted the inspection said they were impressed with the resort’s use of modern technology and eco friendly practices in its operations.
They also believe the resort will continue to play its role in promoting the growth of the hospitality sector in Nepal. With its international brand credentials and modern infrastructure and use of locally sourced design elements, the resort has carved a niche in the premium segment of Chitwan’s hospitality market.
IPO process underway for KTM Hospitality Limited
Along with the award of the 5 Star Deluxe classification, KTM Hospitality Limited is also taking steps to initiate a public share issue. The company has applied to the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to issue 1.55 million shares of common stock worth Rs 100 per share, which would constitute a Rs 155 million IPO.
For the proposed initial public offering, CARE Ratings Nepal has rated the company as BB-. The total cost of the project of the resort is estimated at about Rs 1.70 billion, and the company has projected a debt to equity ratio of 61.5:38.5 after the IPO.
The rating report has cited the company’s association with an international brand and a strong promoter group as among the key strengths of the company. KTM Hospitality was converted from a private limited company to a public limited company on July 9, 2024. The company is led by Rameshwar Shah, chairman and chief executive officer of KTM Group Holdings, as it prepares for the proposed public share issuance.
Located in Sauraha, a key gateway to wildlife tourism around Chitwan National Park, the new rating of the Royal Tulip Chitwan enhances the credentials of the hospitality sector in the region. Industry representatives expect it to further bolster Chitwan’s position in the international high end tourism market and its overall contribution to the premium tourism sector.
