The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) has asked concerned authorities and agencies to stop issuing trekking entry permits for the Annapurna and Manaslu Conservation Areas for three days due to the forecast of heavy rainfall. The decision has been taken following weather forecasts predicting heavy rainfall in different parts of Nepal from September 24 to 28 (Ashwin 8–12, 2083 B.S.).
Permit Issuance Suspended Until Further Notice
According to an urgent notice issued by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), entry permits for the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and Manaslu Conservation Area (MCA) should not be issued from September 24 to 26 (Ashwin 8–10). The suspension will remain in place until another notice is issued. The directive applies to all concerned agencies involved in issuing permits for trekkers visiting the two major conservation areas.
Decision Comes Amid Heavy Rainfall Forecast
The NTNC has taken the measure as a precaution following the weather forecast for the coming days. Heavy rainfall can affect trekking routes in the mountain regions and create difficulties for trekkers, particularly on trails vulnerable to landslides, flooding and slippery conditions. The conservation authority has asked concerned stakeholders to follow the instruction and cooperate during the temporary suspension.
Trekkers and Trekking Agencies Asked to Take Note
Trekking agencies and visitors planning to travel through the Annapurna and Manaslu regions have been advised to take the latest notice into account while making their travel plans. The current restriction covers permit issuance from September 24 to 26, while the weather forecast mentioned in the notice extends through September 28. Further decisions regarding permit issuance will depend on subsequent instructions and weather conditions.
