Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 has provided Nepal with a major platform to showcase its diverse tourism products and strengthen business ties with the Japanese travel market. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB, Nepal Airlines Corporation, and nine private-sector tourism companies are participating in the international event at Tokyo Big Sight, joining tourism organizations, travel companies and destinations from around the world to promote their offerings and explore new business opportunities. Nepal Connects With Japanese Travel Industry
Nepal’s participation includes participation of the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Airlines Corporation and nine private-sector companies representing the country’s travel, trekking and hospitality industries. The participating companies are engaging their Japanese counterparts in scheduled business-to-business (B2B) meetings during the trade sessions, while the public-facing business-to-consumer (B2C) programme is slated for September 26 and 27. Nepal’s delegation is focussing on building partnerships with Japanese tour operators and travel businesses while introducing Nepal’s tourism products and experiences to potential visitors.
The participating private-sector companies are Gochali Tours and Travels, Sumegh Tours and Travels, Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks & Expedition, Langtang Ri Trekking & Expedition, Ghale Treks & Expedition, Buddha Maya Gardens, Rupakot Resort, Chhaya Devi Complex (Aloft Kathmandu Thamel), and Gorkha International Travels. The expo provides Nepalese tourism businesses the platform to establish new commercial contacts, build new relationships and explore opportunities for increased tourist arrivals from Japan.
Japan Remains an Important Market for Nepal
Nepal Tourism Board has identified Japan as an important source market and is using the Tokyo expo to present tourism experiences appealing to Japanese travellers seeking distinctive and memorable journeys. Nepal and Japan also mark 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, providing an additional backdrop for enhancing tourism and people-to-people connections between the two countries. Air connectivity is another important factor in facilitating travel between the two destinations. Regular services operated by Nepal Airlines Corporation provide direct link between Nepal and Japan, assisting in facilitating travel for tourists and other visitors.

Nepal is also using the international platform to communicate the current tourism situation following flash floods that affected parts of Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors, particularly in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. The tourism sector has emphasized that the impact has been confined to specific areas, with major tourism destinations across the country remaining operational.
According to the tourism message being shared at the expo, major destinations including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini, the Annapurna region and the Everest region remain accessible and operational for visitors. The message is aimed at providing international travellers and tourism partners with updated information about Nepal’s tourism situation while encouraging continued travel to those destinations that remain open.
