Bhoothchhanga, a scenic tourist spot located in Sano Siruwari, Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-7, is witnessing a surge in internal tourism. On public holidays, hundreds of tourists flock to Bhoothchhanga, which is considered a prime natural tourist destination close to the district headquarters of Chautara.
Situated 93 kilometers from the capital city, Kathmandu, and just 6 kilometers from Chautara, Bhoothchhanga has emerged as an excellent destination for trekking and cycling. Resident Rajiv Dulal noted that visitors frequently choose Bhoothchhanga as a primary spot during their visits to Chautara, whether for travel, work, or study. Tourists are arriving from various regions, including Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchok, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, and Lalitpur.
Resident Tej Bahadur Adhikari, who visited Bhoothchhanga for the first time, described the area as naturally beautiful and charming. He emphasized the need for local government to implement planned tourism promotion strategies. Adhikari suggested that promoting tourism could create self-employment opportunities and increase local income.
Bhoothchhanga also shows significant potential for other adventure tourism activities, and Adhikari urged stakeholders to focus on this potential. According to Bhuwan Ghale, a local businessperson, the growing number of tourists indicates that Bhoothchhanga is becoming a popular spot for day trips from Kathmandu, ideal for hiking or cycling.
With the rise in tourism activities, local entrepreneurs have established resorts in the area. Ghale stressed the importance of further infrastructure development to enhance economic activities. Bhoothchhanga is emerging as a promising destination for internal tourism, offering both natural beauty and adventure, and presenting opportunities for economic growth in the local community.
