A fire broke out this evening at the residence of Bimal Thakuri, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Cooperatives for Bagmati Province. The fire occurred in the conference hall located on the upper floor of the building where Minister Thakuri resides.
According to the District Police Office in Makwanpur, the fire damaged four inverter batteries, a power supply box, a Wi-Fi router, carpets, and gypsum boards. The fire started at 7:40 PM and was extinguished by 7:55 PM, as reported by Deputy Superintendent of Police Laxmi Bhandari, the spokesperson for Makwanpur Police.
The fire was brought under control with the assistance of a fire engine from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City. Police believe the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The building serving as the minister’s residence is part of the staff housing of the Hetauda Cement Factory, located in Lamsure, Hetauda-9.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and the situation is now under control. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing.
