Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu Launches “Fairfield for Children” Initiative to Empower Visually Impaired Kids

Upholding its commitment to social responsibility, Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu has launched the “Fairfield for Children” initiative, aimed at supporting visually impaired children through art and creativity. In collaboration with Artbeat Art School, the hotel has provided an advanced pottery machine to empower these children, aligning with their motto, “Shaping the future with every spin.”

The event was graced by Indira Rana Magar, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament in Nepal, who was deeply touched by the initiative. Drawing inspiration from the renowned Nepali author Parijat, Magar expressed her dedication to helping children and urged the government to increase its support for such causes. She praised the initiative, remarking, “Ceramics and pottery are celebrated in Europe, and I hope these children can make it their profession to secure a future for themselves.” She also highlighted the crucial role of private sector contributions in uplifting society.

Vishal Mehra, General Manager of Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu, emphasized the hotel’s commitment to going beyond just offering great hospitality. “We are dedicated to serving children with special needs and creating an inclusive environment. By providing pottery machines, we are empowering these children to shape a brighter future with their own hands,” Mehra said. He also shared details of the hotel’s previous community initiatives, including a Christmas event for HIV-positive children and hiring practices that prioritize inclusivity. Mehra also announced an upcoming art market on September 7, following the success of a recent one held on August 3.

Juju Maharjan from Artbeat Art School expressed optimism about the long-term impact of the project. He highlighted the success of past events, such as a popular clay art program that drew over 1,000 children, and emphasized that this initiative will continue to help blind children develop artistic skills in the future.

Nuri Fhatima Azam, Marketing and Communication Executive at Fairfield, added that the initiative is part of a broader effort to support children’s homes and schools over the past six months. She praised the incredible abilities of blind children and their potential in tactile art. “We are committed to providing safe and easy-to-use pottery-making instruments,” Azam stated, underlining the importance of enabling these children to express themselves creatively.

The pottery machine was officially handed over by Chairman Sashi Agarwal, along with Indira Rana Magar, Gaurav Agarwal, Kyohei Doizoe, and Vishal Mehra, marking a significant milestone in Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu’s ongoing efforts to engage with and support the community.
