In a tragic bus accident that occurred last Friday on the Prithvi Highway in Aambukaireni Municipality-2, Ainapahara, Tanahun, one passenger remains missing five days after the incident.

The accident involved a bus with an Indian license plate number UP53FT 7623, which was en route from Pokhara to Kathmandu when it plunged into the Marsyangdi River. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai at the District Police Office Tanahun, 22-year-old Gokarni Sandeep Sarode, who went missing in the accident, has not been found as of Tuesday.

The accident resulted in the deaths of 27 individuals, with 16 others injured. Despite ongoing search efforts, Sarode has yet to be located. On Monday, during the operation to retrieve the bus from the river, there were concerns that it might have been crushed, but Sarode was not found, according to the police. Tragically, Sarode’s parents also lost their lives in the same accident.

Deputy Superintendent Rai stated, “Based on the information provided by the survivors, Sarode has not been located. Search efforts are ongoing in the possible areas.” The police managed to recover the bus from the river after eight hours of effort and brought it to a location near the road.
