The Pasang Lhamu road in Rasuwa, which had been blocked by a landslide following heavy rainfall, has been reopened, restoring a key route for tourists and locals. Hundreds of vehicles, including passenger buses stranded at Mulkharka, have now resumed their journeys.
Chief District Officer Bednidhi Khanal confirmed that the road was cleared after a ‘breaker’ was removed using excavators brought from Nuwakot. The landslide, triggered by overnight rain, had covered the road with debris, obstructing traffic.
The reopening of the road is crucial for the flow of tourists heading to significant destinations, including Mansarovar Kailash in China and the holy site of Gosainkunda in Rasuwa. Traffic police reported that containers carrying Chinese goods, along with vehicles ferrying passengers and locals, have already reached their destinations.
The Armed Police Force and Nepal Police played a vital role in assisting passengers and ensuring safe passage through the affected area. The restoration of this vital road link is expected to enhance the experience of pilgrims and tourists visiting these sacred and scenic destinations, which are key to Rasuwa’s tourism economy.
