The cabinet of Koshi Province, led by Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, has been expanded with the addition of three ministers and one state minister. The original council of ministers, formed on April 9 and 18, 2024 (Baishakh 27 and Jestha 4, 2081 BS), has been officially extended today.
Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed ministers based on the recommendation of Chief Minister Karki, per Article 168, Clause 9 of the Constitution of Nepal. The new ministers sworn in include Bhupendra Rai as the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Khagen Singh Hangam as the Minister for Industry, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, and Sadananda Mandal as the Minister for Tourism, Forests, and Environment.
Additionally, Chief Minister Karki also swore in Bhumi Prasad Rajbanshi as the State Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Koshi Province Assembly Ambar Bahadur Bista, various provincial ministers, heads of security agencies, secretaries from different ministries, and political party representatives, among others.
This expansion aims to strengthen the provincial government’s capacity to address key sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, and environment, ensuring better governance and service delivery in Koshi Province.
