Urgent Call for Aviation Bills in National Assembly

During today’s meeting of the National Assembly, MP Tulasa Kumari Dahal emphasized the immediate need to pass the “Nepal Air Service Authority, 2076” and the “Nepal Civil Aviation Bill, 2076.” She urged swift action, highlighting the importance of these bills for the proper management of the aviation sector in Nepal.

In her address during the zero hour of the session, MP Dahal noted that the National Assembly had discussed these two bills and sent them to the House of Representatives on July 18, 2021. However, due to the expiry of the previous tenure of the House of Representatives, the bills have remained in limbo. Expressing concern, she underscored the urgency of bringing these crucial bills back for discussion and implementation, especially because Nepal has experienced 71 aviation accidents to date.

“How long will it take for these bills to be discussed and implemented?” she questioned, stressing the importance of timely action for improving aviation safety.

Additionally, MP Ganga Kumari Belbase expressed that raising the issue of Deputy Speaker Indira Rana’s apology again in the parliament was unnecessary, as the matter had already been resolved.

MP Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achami pointed out operational challenges at the Udayapur Cement Factory due to the lack of a general manager. He also requested the government to approve the establishment of a 300-bed hospital and medical facility at Purvanchal University.

MP Maya Prasad Sharma called the government’s attention to the need for repairing bridges on the Jajarkot and Chaujhari sections of the Mid-Hill Highway. Meanwhile, MP Sumitra BC raised concerns over the use of harmful pesticides in vegetables and fruits, urging the Ministry of Agriculture to take immediate action to address this issue affecting public health.
