In a bid to produce skilled manpower and attract them to the tourism industry, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has initiated a capacity-building campaign. The goal of this campaign is to generate skilled human resources and familiarize future generations with the tourism sector.
Deepak Raj Joshi, the CEO of NTB, stated that the program is aimed at empowering tourism professionals and further promoting the tourism industry. “This campaign is not only an effort to promote tourism but also aims to shape future leaders who will drive the industry forward. We expect active participation from students and industry professionals,” Joshi mentioned.
The first session of a monthly series titled Empowering Future Tourism Leadership: Sharing Knowledge and Inspiring Growth saw participation from 65 students from the Bachelor of Hotel Management program at Subhashree College of Management. During the event, NTB’s Senior Director Hikmat Singh Aire highlighted that the program aims to inspire students to become entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.
Bimal Kandel, NTB’s Senior Manager, delivered a presentation on Nepal’s unique tourism assets. Meanwhile, Manita Oli, Principal of Subhashree College, expressed confidence that such programs would help students acquire new skills and knowledge in the hospitality sector, motivating them to pursue careers in tourism.
This initiative is believed to bridge the gap between industry expertise and emerging talent, fostering an environment of learning, collaboration, and innovation. Sudhan Subedi, NTB’s Senior Officer and coordinator of the program, explained that the campaign will encourage discussions on the latest trends in tourism and explore future opportunities with experienced trainers, teachers, and students.
Educational institutions wishing to participate in this initiative can contact NTB’s Tourism Capacity Development Unit under the Tourism Heritage and Development Division. NTB has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable tourism in Nepal and aims to enhance the country’s image as a top tourist destination through innovative programs and partnerships. Through these efforts, NTB is set to ensure the long-term development of the tourism industry in Nepal.
