Fairfield by Marriott Thamel and Kathmandu Marriott Hotel Unite for Thamel Cleanup Day on World Cleanup Day

Fairfield by Marriott Thamel and Kathmandu Marriott Hotel joined forces on September 20, 2024, to celebrate World Cleanup Day by organizing the “Thamel Cleanup Day” initiative. This event highlights the hotels’ strong commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement within Kathmandu. The cleanup initiative aimed to enhance the beauty of the bustling Thamel area, demonstrating the hotels’ ongoing efforts to create a cleaner, greener city.

Gaurav Agarwal, Managing Director of both hotels, expressed the significance of the initiative, stating, “This effort not only allows us to clean the streets but also helps us build a stronger, more sustainable community together.” Vishal Mehra, Cluster General Manager, reinforced this message by emphasizing the power of hospitality to uplift both the environment and local communities.

In addition to environmental efforts, both hotels have a history of community-focused initiatives. These include Art Markets showcasing handmade products created by children with special needs, donations of pottery machines to encourage creative expression, and the sale of artistic bottles made by HIV-positive children. These activities reflect the Marriott Corporation’s dedication to empowering marginalized communities through creative engagement.

World Cleanup Day is a global movement that encourages individuals and organizations to unite in cleaning their communities while raising environmental awareness. Fairfield by Marriott and Kathmandu Marriott’s active participation in such philanthropic activities underscores their commitment to merging tourism with social responsibility and making a positive impact in Nepal.
