Lumbini Province to Celebrate 45th World Tourism Day as a Festival

The Lumbini Province Government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, and Transport, the Tourism Development Council, and the Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, is set to celebrate the 45th World Tourism Day on Ashwin 11 in a festival-like atmosphere.

The provincial-level event will take place in Ghorahi, Dang, where a grand program is scheduled to be held at the open stage of the District Coordination Committee, Ghorahi. Under the theme “Tourism, Justice, and Peace,” various preparations have been made by forming nine sub-committees to ensure the success of the day, as informed by Humakumari DC, the coordinator of the main committee and acting chief of the sub-metropolitan city.

The inauguration of the grand event will be conducted by Chaitanya Narayan Acharya, the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. The program will feature cultural presentations and dances that reflect the diverse identities of various districts in the province. Attendees can look forward to ten different types of ethnic folk dances and music, including the Sarangi tune of the Gandharva community, the Badka dance of the Tharu community, the Kathghori dance from Deukhuri, Sakhia dance, Kaunda dance from Palpa, Bhumya dance of the Magar community, and Mayur (Sarange) dance. Outstanding performances will be awarded by the organizers.

The festival will see participation from all twelve districts of Lumbini Province. Arrangements are also in place for visiting tourists to explore the region’s tourist attractions. Additionally, a procession featuring various tableaux will circle around the Ghorahi market. The Minister of Industry, Tourism, and Transport, Prachand Bikram Neuapane, is also expected to attend the event.

Preparations for the program, aimed at supporting tourism development and promotion in the region, are in the final stages, as shared by Durga Lal K.C., coordinator of the publicity sub-committee. The event promises to be a significant celebration, highlighting the importance of tourism in fostering community engagement and cultural exchange.
