Snowfall in Samdo, Northern Gorkha Disrupts Daily Life and Tourism

Samdo, located in Northern Gorkha, has experienced significant snowfall since Friday night, causing disruption to the daily lives of locals and halting tourist activities. The unexpected snowfall, ranging from half a foot to a foot deep, has blocked trekking routes, particularly affecting tourists heading towards Larke Pass, who are now stranded in Samdo.

Chief of the Armed Police Force Border Outpost (BOP) in Samdo, Bishwo Tripathi, confirmed the situation, stating, “The snow has completely covered the trekking trails. We are currently working to clear the paths.” Along with the snowfall, the cold has intensified, forcing locals to remain indoors, warming themselves by the fire.

This is the first instance of snowfall in Ashwin before the usual winter season begins. Meanwhile, lower regions are experiencing continuous rainfall.
