Monsoon Winds and Low-Pressure System Bring Rainfall Across Nepal

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported the ongoing influence of monsoon winds across Nepal, coupled with the partial effect of a low-pressure system over the northeastern part of Assam, India.

Currently, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are experiencing partly to generally cloudy weather, while other parts of the country have partial cloud cover. In some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is occurring.

For the rest of the day, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will continue to experience cloudy conditions, while other provinces will see mostly clear skies with some partial cloud cover. There is also a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and a few other provinces. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, with the likelihood of strong winds in some areas of the Koshi province’s lowlands.

According to the department, tonight will bring partly to generally cloudy conditions in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while other provinces will experience mostly clear weather. There is a chance of light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in a few areas across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with strong winds forecast in parts of the Tarai region of Koshi province.

In the next 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and other provinces. The department has also warned of heavy rainfall in one or two places in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, urging residents to stay cautious of potential floods, landslides, and waterlogging.
