Tourism Business Women Association Nepal (TEWAN) Promotes Pokhara in Malaysia

The Tourism Business Women Association Nepal (TEWAN) recently conducted an engaging interaction with tour operators in Malaysia as part of their initiative to promote tourism in Pokhara. The TEWAN team, which embarked on a promotional tour across several countries including Malaysia ten days ago, engaged with approximately 25 Malaysian tour operators on Thursday, extending invitations to visit Pokhara.

TEWAN President Kamala Giri highlighted that Pokhara has been designated as the capital of tourism, sharing detailed insights into the tourism potential, destinations, and opportunities within Pokhara and the broader Gandaki region. She emphasized Nepal’s unique attractions, including the world’s highest peak, Everest, and the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, urging collaboration for future tourism endeavors. TEWAN Secretary Shobha Adhikari Paudel also extended invitations to the tour operators to explore Pokhara.

The TEWAN team had previously conducted separate interactions at the embassies of Malaysia and Thailand. During these meetings, Dilliraj Paudel, the Nepali ambassador to Malaysia, lauded the women’s efforts in promoting tourism and committed to supporting future programs in Malaysia. Similarly, the Nepali Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Oli stressed the importance of preserving Pokhara’s natural beauty and shared insights on Thai government policies and tourist destinations. Key figures like Kumar Karki, Patron of the Thai Nepal Association, and Bhabindra Bahadur Basnet, President of NRNA Thailand, contributed their perspectives on enhancing Pokhara’s tourism appeal.

The interactions saw substantial participation from representatives of Nepali organizations and stakeholders. The promotional tour, led by TEWAN President Kamala Giri, also included visits to Singapore and Thailand. Throughout the tour, the team showcased a documentary film produced by the Nepal Tourism Board, highlighting Pokhara’s attractions, and distributed promotional materials to raise awareness about the destination.

The delegation comprised prominent members including President Kamala Giri, Secretary Shobha Adhikari Paudel, and members Sarita Baral Kshatri, Sharda Lamsal, Urmila Thapa Panthi, Sangita Adhikari, Sangita Baral, Nisha Budha, Bhagwati Khatri, Binita Adhikari Baral, Sita Adhikari Paudel, Gyanu Shrestha, Sita Koirala, Rejina Acharya, Tara Giri, and Spandan Giri, along with journalists Yubraj Shrestha, Yunish Gurung, and Durga Rana Magar.

The TEWAN team is set to return home after their successful promotional tour, having forged new connections and strategies to boost tourism in Pokhara from the international market.
