A 23-year-old Polish woman, Sovinka Agnieszka, tragically passed away last night while trekking in the Himalayan region near the Surya Kunda area, located on the border between Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.
According to Rasuwa District Police Chief, Keshav Bhattarai, Agnieszka, holder of Polish passport number FE3051811, died near the Surya Kunda area. With the assistance of the Nepali Army’s Shreenath Battalion and the local Nepal Police, her body was brought to Gosaikunda and flown to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, by helicopter this morning.
Bivek Adhikari, the flight manager at Air Dynasty, reported that the body was transported to Kathmandu following a request from the Real Himalaya Trekking office and coordination with local security forces. Chief Bhattarai stated that further investigations are underway, with personnel deployed to the area. The cause of death, whether due to altitude sickness or other reasons, will be confirmed following the post-mortem report.
