Starting from Ashwin 22, 2081 (October 8, 2024), tourists visiting the Annapurna Conservation Area, Manaslu Conservation Area, and Gaurishankar Conservation Area will be required to obtain an e-permit (trekking permit) online. This new system allows for payment via QR code for up to five tourists at a time.
To apply for the e-permit, tourists must upload a digital passport-sized photo (less than 1 MB in size). Once the payment is completed, the permit will be sent directly to the email address provided by the trekking agency. Tourists are required to print the e-permit and carry it during their visit to the conservation areas.
At designated checkpoints, authorities will verify the permit along with the tourist’s passport or identification card. If the permit is unclear, already used, or a duplicate, the tourist may be turned back or face legal consequences. All visitors are advised to be cautious and ensure their permits are valid and authentic to avoid any issues during their trip.
The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) has implemented this e-permit system to streamline the process for tourists visiting conservation areas like Annapurna, ensuring a more efficient and regulated trekking experience.
