Hoteliers in Ghorepani Offer Discounts to Domestic Tourists During Festive Season

Hoteliers in Ghorepani, a popular tourist destination located in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 of Myagdi, have announced discounts for domestic tourists during the upcoming festive season. The decision was made during a joint meeting held on Thursday by the Ghorepani Community Improvement Committee, Hotel Management, and Tourism Management Subcommittee.

Julie Thakuri Pun, Vice President of the Ghorepani Community Improvement Committee, stated that starting Thursday, Nepali tourists will receive a 10% discount on their total bill at all hotels in the area. “We have decided to offer this discount to promote domestic tourism,” Pun said. “During the festive season, all visitors staying at hotels in Ghorepani will enjoy this benefit.”

Pun also informed that the road leading to Ghorepani from Pokharebagar, which had been blocked by a landslide at Ghoptekhark, has been repaired, allowing jeeps and motorcycles to operate again. In addition to road transportation, visitors can reach Ghorepani by trekking from Ulleri or Ghandruk in Kaski, Mohare Danda in Myagdi, or Bhukdeurali in Parbat.

Situated at an altitude of 2,800 meters above sea level, Ghorepani boasts 26 hotels, ranging from small to large, with a total capacity to accommodate up to 1,200 guests daily. Room rates range from NPR 1,500 to NPR 5,000 per person, depending on the facilities provided.

The Ghorepani-Poon Hill region, located in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6, is a popular destination for viewing the Himalayas, hilly landscapes, sunrise, and the rhododendron forest. Poon Hill, which stands at 3,210 meters, is renowned as one of the best viewpoints along the Annapurna Circuit trekking route. From Poon Hill, tourists can enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan ranges, including Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, as well as a breathtaking sunrise.

Visitors can also witness over a dozen Himalayan peaks and summits up close from the region. The area’s serene environment, high-altitude landscapes, and panoramic views make it a top choice for many tourists.

Many hotels in Ghorepani offer rooms and dining areas with views of the rhododendron forests set against the backdrop of the Himalayas. Tourists staying in Ghorepani often embark on a 40-minute uphill hike early in the morning to reach Poon Hill for the sunrise.

The Ghorepani-Poon Hill area is a favorite among trekkers along the Annapurna Circuit. From Pokhara, the provincial capital of Gandaki, tourists can reach Ghorepani in a single day via Nayapul and Ulleri, or in two days via Ghandruk. It is also accessible by a three-hour jeep ride from Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi, passing through Pokharebagar in Annapurna Rural Municipality.
