Tourism Entrepreneur Basanta Raj Mishra Passes Away, Tributes Pour In

Various organizations have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of prominent tourism entrepreneur Basanta Raj Mishra. The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter, among other institutions, have issued condolence statements, paying heartfelt tribute to the late Mishra and extending their deepest sympathies to his grieving family.

The statements also offered prayers for the eternal peace of Mishra’s soul, noting that his demise marks a great loss for Nepal’s tourism industry. Active for over four decades, Mishra was described as a dedicated and principled figure who played a pivotal role in promoting tourism in Nepal. His efforts to attract foreign tourists were particularly highlighted as a significant contribution to the sector.

Mishra, the founder of Temple Tiger Group & Company, served as vice president of CNI from 2013 to 2016. He was also a lifetime member of PATA Nepal and a former chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter. In their statement, PATA Nepal expressed profound grief over his passing, acknowledging Mishra’s crucial role in the development of Nepal’s tourism industry.

“An influential figure in Nepal’s tourism sector, Mishra made remarkable contributions to organizations like PATA and the Nepal Tourism Board, as well as other national and international tourism associations. His unwavering dedication to the growth of the industry, through various platforms and positions, remains invaluable and highly commendable,” the statement read.

Mishra passed away at the age of 72 while undergoing treatment. His loss is mourned by colleagues and the entire tourism community, who recognize his lifelong commitment to the industry.
