Inauguration of Newly Constructed Pathway to Chahare Waterfall in Shivapuri

In a remarkable development for local tourism, Shivapuri Gaunpalika-8 recently inaugurated a new pathway leading to the picturesque Chahare waterfall. This initiative marks a significant upgrade in accessibility and safety for visitors to the natural attraction, known for its serene environment and scenic beauty.

Previously, the journey to the waterfall was fraught with challenges, including treacherous paths and risks of slipping on steep slopes and rocky terrains. The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, who have long awaited modern infrastructure to facilitate tourism and enhance local livelihoods.

Local farmers, temporarily halting agricultural activities, were the architects of this modern development. Today, the rejuvenated path and resting spots along the route offer not only a serene experience to domestic and international tourists but also an opportunity for residents to engage in businesses such as homestays and souvenir shops.

Mayor Govinda Thapaliya of Shivapuri Gaunpalika emphasized that the project’s completion was a result of coordinated efforts among various bodies, including governmental support and community labor. He highlighted the potential of the Chahare waterfall to attract both domestic and foreign tourists, positioning it as a vital element in the region’s economic growth through tourism.

Local deputy chairman Bir Bahadur Tamang envisioned further development plans, including constructing a suspension bridge linking Kakani to the Chahare waterfall area, creating selfie spots, and enhancing visitor amenities. He estimated the project’s cost at approximately NPR 3 million, funded through local, municipal, and federal contributions.

The inauguration not only signals a milestone in local infrastructure development but also underscores the cultural significance of the region, long associated with spiritual retreats and natural wonders. As the newly built pathway opens doors to more visitors, it promises to amplify economic opportunities and elevate the region’s profile as a premier tourist destination.
