The Beni-Jomsom road, which connects the northern region of Myagdi to Mustang, has been blocked since this evening due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall.
According to the District Traffic Police Office, landslides occurred in the Baishari area of Raghu Ganga Rural Municipality and Mahabhir of Annapurna Rural Municipality, leading to the disruption of vehicular traffic. Police Chief Rajkumar KC informed that the rainfall, which has continued throughout the day, has triggered the landslides, halting all movement along the road.
With the rain showing no signs of stopping and nighttime approaching, KC urged travelers to avoid using the Beni-Jomsom road during the night. He stated that coordination with the Beni-Jomsom-Korla Road Project will begin Tuesday morning to clear the landslides and reopen the road for traffic.
The road closure has left residents of Raghu Ganga, Annapurna, and Mustang, as well as visiting tourists, stranded. Vehicles heading towards Mustang have been redirected to return to Beni, while those traveling back to Myagdi have turned towards Bhurung-Tatopani.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on the road conditions and to exercise caution as cleanup efforts commence.
